DRDA

The District Rural Development Agency (DRDA) has traditionally been the principal organ at the District level to oversee the implementation of different anti-poverty programmes.
The implementation and supervision of the schemes implemented by the Central / State Government of the rural environment are done by the District Rural Development Agency. The scheme is supervised by the District Rural Development Agency, making all the central and state-level funds allocation to each of the departments and implementing agencies. The following programs are being run by the Agency Office in the current year:

1. MGNREGA
2. Prime Minister’s Housing Scheme- Gramin / Indira Awaas Yojana
3. Adarsh Gram Yojana
4. Rurban Mission
5. Other sponsored schemes

Strategy

Many Schemes of the Central and State Governments are introduced from time to time. Several schemes are available providing support to different components of Rural Development. Schemes are also periodically modified to reflect the experience over the years. The task of DRDA has been to identify the needs of the rural population and reach the appropriate schemes where they are needed. In implementing the schemes, the role of the DRDA has been Technical, Managerial and Financial. Thus DRDA is not only a body to disburse the funds for the schemes but also provide appropriate Managerial and Technical support.
